The Rev. Kathryn Matthews, Dean of Amistad Chapel UCC, to Retire

The Rev. Kathryn Matthews has 14 reasons why she's ready to retire. "One spouse, four children, two Yorkies, and seven grandchildren," she said. "Also, many, many books to read and a courtyard of flowers to enjoy."

Matthews will step away from her position as dean of the Amistad Chapel United Church of Christ on June 30 after serving the UCC's national offices for 16 years.

Amistad Chapel's gathering of non-perishable food and personal care items for people who are homeless

Amistad Chapel has an ongoing ministry in partnership with Pilgrim Church UCC in Tremont, Trials For Hope (St. Paul’s UCC) in Ohio City, the HIV/AIDS Taskforce of Cleveland (outreach to homeless LGBT youth) and Frontline Services (a shelter for women who are homeless). Non-perishable food items and personal care items are always welcome – please bring them to worship or drop them off at the Chapel anytime.

(We have had a specific request for nutrition/protein drinks for the elderly and for cancer patients.)

We’re also receiving donations of new, warm socks for people who are homeless; socks are the most under-donated and yet most-needed items given to shelters.

Your generosity and thoughtfulness are greatly appreciated!
